Nathan Bedford Forrest

Forrest represents the influence of former Confederates on the Democratic Party.

He is wearing a Confederate uniform, with CSA (Confederate States of America) on his belt buckle.

In his left hand, he holds a dagger that reads “The Lost Cause.” This dagger represents a perspective of the Civil War that cast Southerners as victims who were pursuing a just and righteous war.

The lash in his back pocket represents a belief in chattel slavery.

The medal on his coat is for his exploits at Fort Pillow. During that confrontation black Union soldiers were massacred at Forrest’s command.

Forrest was the founding Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.
